DUSHANBE, December 16, Asia-Plus – Holding an international conference to commemorate Abu Abdullah Roudaki, a founder of the Tajik-Persian classical literature, plays a vital role in flourishing of the Persian language in the Farsi-speaking countries.
Announcing this, an organizer of the conference referred to Roudaki as a spiritual heritage, IRNA reported.
Abolqasem Rad-Far said the works of some noted Iranians are more valuable than historical and cultural monuments.
He referred to some of the noted Iranian poets including Khawja- Shamseddin-Mohammad Hafez and Saadi as other spiritual heritages of the country.
Roudaki is regarded as the first great literary genius of modern Persian language, who composed poems in the Perso-Arabic alphabet or ”New Persian” script.
Roudaki is considered a founder of Persian classical literature.
An international conference to commemorate Roudaki, will be held in Tehran on December 21. The life of Roudaki and his works will be up for discussion at the meeting. Over 100 domestic and 30 foreign articles will be read out during the two-day event. The event is organized by the Research Center of Iran”s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization.
UNESCO regularly commemorates scientific and literary dignitaries of various countries to promote international understanding and encourage more cultural interactions among nations and to support international peace.
Roudaki was born in 858 in Roudak (Panjrud), a village then in Khorasan, and now located in Panakent, Tajikistan.
Most of his biographers assert that he was completely blind, but his accurate knowledge of colors, as is evident in his poetry, renders this assertion very doubtful. Roudaki was the court poet to the Samanid ruler Nasr II (914-943) in Bukhara, although he eventually fell out of favor and his life ended in poverty.
