PPDT, IRPT nominates candidates for parliamentary by-election in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, December 25, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) and the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) have nominated their candidates for by-election in Dushanbe’s Sino district — constituency # 4.

According to Davlatali Davlatov, the first deputy head of the PDPT, their party has nominated Chancellor of Tajik technological University, Dr. Amir Katayev, for the by-election.

Hikmatullo Sayfullozoda, a spokesman for the IRPT, said that they had nominated the 31-year-old architect Dodikhudo Abdulloyev, who is the deputy head of the IRPT organization for Dushanbe.

The by-election in constituency # 4 is called following the appointment Karimjon Qodirov, who formerly represented the Sino district in the parliament, as chancellor of Kulob Teachers’ Training University.

The by-election in the Sino district is schedule for February 8, 2009.
