DUSHANBE, January 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  — To attract domestic and foreign investments to build new facilities in Dushanbe the Dushanbe authorities intend to suspend collection of local tax, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said.

According to him, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev recommended at a January 19 meeting of the mayor’s office to attract investments from our fellow-countrymen living and working abroad.

Speaking at the meeting, the mayor also charged the relevant bodies to review the municipal redevelopment plan that includes the construction of modern buildings in the city and consider issues related to holding of the repeated tender for selection of contractor for implementation of the municipal redevelopment plan.

The mayor charged Dushanbe’s land management committee and the main architecture and construction directorate to select places for construction of two 20-storey buildings in the country.  These buildings are among jubilee facilities that are expected to be constructed in the city on occasion of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence that will be marked in September 2011, the spokesman said.
