DUSHANBE, April 24, 2009, Asia-Plus  — 62 items of cultural heritage confiscated by customs officers in Nizhny Panj last month have been handed over to the Hulbuk Museum in Kulob, Culture Minster Mirzoshorukh Asrori said.

According to him, relevant measures have also been taken to prevent violation of the cultural relics protection law in the Varzob district and in Vahdat, where the Dehkanabad Fortress is located.

The minister noted that 112 items of cultural relics, including 18 manuscripts as well as 50 silver coins dated to the 13th century, had been handed over to the National Kamoliddin Behzod Museum in Dushanbe.

According to data of the Ministry of Culture, there are 2,020 historical and cultural relics in the country.
