DUSHANBE, July 16, 2009, Asia-Plus — On Wednesday July 15, President Emomali Rahmon held a number of bilateral meetings with participants of the 15th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, according to presidential press service.
State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Philippines were discussed at a meeting of Emomali Rahmon with the President of the Philippines Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The sides agreed to set up working groups for preparing bilateral agreements.
Rahmon’s meeting with Mr. Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, focused on international and regional issues being of mutual interest.
During a meeting with the Saudi Arabian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nazar Madani, President Rahmon expressed gratitude to his country for supporting decision on holding the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Minister of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in 2010 in Dushanbe.
The same day, President Rahmon met with the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The two discussed preparation of Rahmon’s official visit to New Delhi scheduled for September this year. In the course of the talks, the Indian PM expressed readiness of his country to participate in implementation of economic projects in Tajikistan. Rahmon invited Dr. Manmohan Singh to pay visit to Tajikistan, the press service said.
Rahmon’s meeting with his Turkish counterpart, President Abdullah Gul, focused on the process of implementation of agreements that had been reached during Turkish leader’s official visit to Tajikistan in April this year.
