DUSHANBE, August 6, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Members of the economic team of the Government of Tajikistan yesterday met here with representatives of the World bank, led by Chiara Bronchi, the World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

The strategy of providing assistance to Tajikistan for the next three years with regard to priorities defined by the Poverty Reduction Strategy and the National Economic Development Strategy was a major topic of the meeting.

The sides also discussed issues related to mitigation of negative impact of the global financial crisis on Tajikistan, the source at a MoF said.

The meeting participants included Safarali Najmiddinov, Finance Minister, Shukurjon Zhurov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Umed Davlatzoda, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Nematjon Bouriyev, Senior Adviser to the Tajik President for Economic Matters, and some other senior representatives from the economic bloc ministries and organizations.
