Additional supplies of Turkmen gas to Iran to start in December

Turkmenistan.Ru

Turkmen builders plan to complete and put into operation a new gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Iran by October this year. The pipeline is designed to supply 12.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. According to the Turkmengaz state concern, natural gas supplies via the new pipeline should begin in December 2009.

The total length of the pipeline that will connect Dovletabad field with Salyr Yap settlement on the border with Iran will be 30.5 km.

It should be recalled that last month Turkmenistan and Iran agreed to increase supplies of Turkmen gas to 14 billion cubic meters annually, of which 8 billion will come from Korpeje deposits located in the west of Turkmenistan, and 6 billion cubic meters – from the south-eastern field of Dovletabad.

The parties also agreed on a market price of natural gas supplied from Turkmenistan to Iran, calculated on the basis of an international formula, and confirmed their intention to increase gas supplies to Iranian consumers up to 20 billion cubic meters a year in the future, using the resources of Dovletabat field.
