DUSHANBE, August 7, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Ministry of Culture (MoC) has begun rehabilitating one of cultural relics of the nationwide significance – the Tomb of Abdullo Vali in the village of Revad in Sughd’s Ayni district, Asia-Plus has learned from Anvar Yusupov, a spokesman for a MoC.

“Despite the crisis, the ministry attaches significance to rehabilitation and preservation of cultural relics,” said the spokesman, noting that nine cultural relics are now being rehabilitated due to budgetary funs and grants.  “These facilities are important not only as our cultural relics, they are also tourist attractions.”

According to him, 608,100 somoni have been spent over the first seven months of this year for rehabilitation and preservation of the following cultural relics: Abdulqodiri Jeloni in Sughd’s Istaravshan district; Hulbuk Fortress in Khatlon’s Vose district; Imom Zaynulobiddin in Khatlon’s Jilikul district; Khojai Zarrin in Khatlon’s Danghara district; Khoja Ahmadi Buzurg in Sugh’s Panjakent district; Vamar Fortress in GBAO’s Rushan district, and the Khuja Mashhad Madrasah in Khatlon’s Shahritus  district.
