DUSHANBE, August 7, 2009, Asia-Plus — The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has financed eight projects in the field of art and culture for a total amount of US$15,000 through the Small Projects Fund “Harakatu Barakat” of the Regional Art and Culture Program, press release issued by the SDC Dushanbe office said.
The projects are:
– The 2ndnd Annual “Roof of the World” Festival of arts and cultures, as well as innovative technologies took place in Khorog, GBAO, on July 25-26 2009 and initiated by local NGO Amesha Spenta. The project was aimed at facilitating enhanced dialogue of sub-cultures existing in GBAO, as well as fostering inter-cultural understandings, mutual respect and networking through joint participation of Tajik, Afghan, Kyrgyz, Chinese and Kazakh artists;
– The “Mini-Chess” attempt to produce some new samples and designs of traditional wooden chess by artist Olim Kamolov, who is well-known for his active involvement in revival and development of the genre of miniatures in its authentic style in Tajikistan;
– Documentary film “The Doze” is an attempt to open a window to the young lives addicted to drugs who are trying to get out with the help of their relatives and doctors. The film’s director Ozod Malikov tries to reveal the spring “Jilandi” in Gorno Badakhshan believed to be healing from drug addiction. Is it a matter of psychological approach or natural specificity of the spring water? Let us wait for the final result of the project and see what the real answer is;
– “Preservation of Manuscripts and Old Publications, and Reviving Sound Archive of the Z. Shahidi Museum.” This contribution to the project will target the study of musical heritage of the first and second generation of Soviet composers through their works that are currently held in National Firdavsi Library, National Conservatory, Institute of Arts, Radio and TV Committee and other theatres and committees;
– Contemporary Arts “Live Iron” is aimed at reflecting steel objects like gates, windows, doors and turning them into pieces of art. Sulaimon Sharifi, a well-known Tajik artist, will try to express his visions through actual art. A new collection of Photo-Art will be presented as the project outcome;
– “Musical Culture of Tajikistan of the 20th and the Beginning of the 21st Centuries: Tendencies and Problems” by Larissa Nazarova (musicologist, professor) will present critical analytical articles in the form of a book, which will serve as educational material for students and teachers of musical high schools and conservatory, as well as a source of interesting information for those who love music and are interested in its development;
– “Collection of works by Barzu Abdurazzaqov” – this name is well known in Tajikistan as since many years he is committed to the theater scene of Tajikistan as a stage director, script writer, artist, and dedicated fighter for freedom of artistic expression and development of Tajik art. A great number of his scripts and compositions have been collected, and will be published and presented to numerous readers;
– “Authentico” – Falsification of art pieces has been since long time a big issue as is the case with human and drug trafficking, and arms trade. In this regard a scientific conference, entitled “Authentico,” will be conducted in Dushanbe from August 24-25 this year. The conference will discuss new technologies and methodologies of defining and protecting original art p pieces and authentic subjects of heritage. The conference will bring together experts and scientist from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russian Federation, Italy, France, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Egypt, Belgium and Poland. The project will contribute to organization of the conference implemented by the Tajik National Museum of Antiquities in partnership with different local and international organizations and with support of the European Commission.
“Harakatu Barakat” is the Small Projects Fund in the field of art and culture, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The Harakatu Barakat Fund (HBF) is one of the five components of the SDC Regional Art and Culture Program, which has supported local initiatives in the field of art and culture since 2000. The projects are selected twice a year by the HBF Committee, composed of local and international experts based on the principle “Culture Is not a Luxury, It Is Life Itself.”
