Potato productivity reportedly decreases in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, September 11, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Compared to last year potato productivity has decreased this year, according to the crop sector directorate within the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

Since the beginning of this year, farming units have reported average potato yields of 20.06 tons per hectare, while over the same period of last year, average potato yields of 21.25 tons/ha have been reported.

All categories of farms have produced 64,300 tons of potatoes this year so far, which is 28 percent of this year’s target that has been determined at 227,100 tons of potatoes, the source said.
