DUSHANBE, December 17, 2009, Asia-Plus — The number of A/H1N1 flu cases has risen to 14 in Tajikistan, Navrouz Jaffarov, the head of the Center for Sanitary and Epidemiologic Supervision within the Ministry of Health (MoH), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, all these 14 cases have been registered in Dushanbe. “To this day, the virology laboratory has received more than 400 blood samples from Dushanbe and other regions and 250 of them have already been tested so far, and 14 of 250 samples tested were found to be A/H1N1 flu positive,” Jaffarov said.
Of those 14 people diagnosed with the A/H1N1 flu, nine are foreign citizens from India, Italy, China, Great Britain and Russia and the remaining five are Tajiks, he said. Among those diagnosed with swine flue, five are children aged 2 to 12, including to Tajik children at the age of 2 and 7.
Jaffarov added that all 14 A/HN1 patients are undergoing medical treatment and some have already been released from the hospital.
