Founder of Ahorun Theatre passes away

DUSHANBE, February 8, 2010, Asia-Plus  — People’s Artist of Tajikistan Farrukh Qosimov, known Tajik stage director and actor also founder of one of the most popular theatres in Tajikistan, Ahorun, died in Dushanbe yesterday, aged 61 after a long illness.

Farrukh Qosimov had worked for twenty years (1969-1088) with the Tajik Academic Drama Theatre named after Abulqosim Lohuti.  In 1990, Farrukh Qosimov founded the Ahorun Theatre and some 20 performances had been staged by him in this theatre.

Performances staged by Qosimov had won grand prizes of Tajikistan’s theatrical festival, Parastou, three times as well as a number of awards of international theatrical festivals in Iran, Russia and Poland.
