DUSHANBE, February 9, 2010, Asia-Plus  — General-Secretary of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the CIS, Ambassador Samah Sotohi, arrived in Dushanbe on February 8 to discuss cooperation issues with Tajik officials.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, during his visit to Tajikistan, Ambassador Samah Sotohi is scheduled to hold talks with senior representatives from Tajik ministries of foreign affairs, economic development and trade, interior, health and education as well as the Academy of Sciences and the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs.  

The Fund is considered one of the mechanisms of executing Egypt”s foreign policy and its role is in supporting and strengthening the Egyptian bilateral relations with the CIS member nations.  The Fund is affiliated to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and chaired by the Foreign Minister, who sets the Fund”s general policy and directions, but it is directly run by one of the ambassadors in the Ministry as a Secretary-General for the Fund.

In the meantime, outgoing Egyptian Ambassador to Tajikistan with residence in Moscow Izzat Sad Al-Said also arrived in Dushanbe yesterday in connection with the end of his tenure to Tajikistan.  On Monday, he met with Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, Mahmoudjon Sobirov.  The sides discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Egypt.
