DUSHANBE, February 10, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A brochure entitled “History of Tajik Journalism” has been brought out in Dushanbe.

Authored by Sharif Mulloyev, associate professor at the department of history and theory of journalism and electronic media, Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU), the brochure contains materials about beginnings of periodicals in the Russian Turkestan, works by known Tajik writers of political essays in pre-1917 (with reference to the Russian Revolution of October 1917) and post-October (following the October 1917 Revolution) periods, history of development of Tajik media, etc.  The brochure is intended for students of journalism faculties, journalists and all those interested in history of domestic journalism.

We will recall that it is already the second book about Tajik journalism published at RTSU this year.  Recently, a book entitled “The Periodical Press of Independent Tajikistan” by Mirsaid Sultonov, a senior lecturer at RTSU was published at RTSU’s printing office.  The book, which can be used as manual on journalism of Tajikistan for teachers and students, has the circulation of a 100 copies and is intended for distribution only to faculties of journalism at the country’s universities.

In his book, Mr. Sultonov considers features of formation and main tendencies of development of journalism in Tajikistan.  A special attention is paid to independent media of the country, history of establishment and current activity of the most popular pint media of Tajikistan.  The author also touches upon issues related to influence of socioeconomic and legal conditions on development of journalism in Tajikistan.  Mr. Sultonov said in an interview with Asia-Plus that in his book, he made an attempt of comprehensive analysis of modern Tajik journalism.
