DUSHANBE, February 10, 2010, Asia-Plus — A three-day International Drug Enforcement Conference (IDEC) is ending in Bucharest, Romania today.

According to press service of the Drug Control Agency (DCA), Colonel Turaboy Komilov, chief of the DCA mobile operations department, is representing Tajikistan at this international forum.

The conference participants have exchanged views on issues related to international cooperation in combating drug trafficking.  Mechanisms of interaction between special services of countries participating in the conference in this direction will be developed on the basis of outcomes of the conference, the DCA press service said.

The International Drug Enforcement Conference is one of programs of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).  IDEC was established in 1983 in an effort to bring together high-level drug law enforcement officials from throughout the Western Hemisphere. The principal purpose of the conference is to share drug-related information and to develop a coordinated approach to law enforcement efforts against international drug traffickers. Since its inception, IDEC has grown from a regional to a global forum.
