DUSHANBE, February 13, 2010, Asia-Plus — Professor Abdollah J. Jassbi, President of Islamic Azad University of Tehran, has arrived in Dushanbe today on a working three-day visit.
According to the Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe, the purpose of the visit is for the Islamic Azad University president is to get license from the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan for functioning of its branch in Tajikistan and sign bilateral agreements on exchange of students and teachers.
During his stay in Dushanbe, Professor Abdollah J. Jassbi is scheduled to hold talks with Minister of Education Abdijabbor Rahmonov and President of the Academy of Sciences Mamdsho Ilolov as well as visit Tajik National University and Tajik Technical University.
According to Wikipedia, Islamic Azad University is a private chain of universities in Iran. Founded in 1982, the Islamic Azad University, with headquarters in Tehran, currently has an enrollment of 1.3 million students,
making it one of the worlds largest. The university system also operates a news agency similar to ANA, named “Azad News Agency.”
Islamic Azad University”s activities quickly expanded throughout the country, so that today thousands of students are benefiting from its high educational standards. Not relying on government funding, it charges students with tuition fees. The certificates issued by this university should be recognized upon evaluation by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Islamic Azad University is one of the credible universities in Iran.
