DUSHANBE February 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  — On Tuesday February 16, Vohidkhon Qosiddin, coordinator of the pre-election headquarters of the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT), met with Ches Martin, Second Secretary, the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe,” in IRPT’s head office in Dushanbe.

According to IRPT’s head office, the two discussed the process of the party’s agitation campaign, the pre-election platform and candidates of the IRPT for parliament and local legislatures.

“Vohidkhon Qosiddin noted that the Islamic Revival Party had nominated some 1,200 its representatives,” said the source, “Although the parliamentary elections code has not changed since the 2005 election, a pledge from President Emomali Rahmon that the elections would be fair gives hope to us.”

According to him, the IRPT pre-election headquarters coordinator noted that improper work of regional commissions caused violation of the election law.  Qossidin expressed hope that such violations would not recur.
