Russia allocates quota of 287 students for Tajikistan for the upcoming academic year

DUSHABE, July 13, 2010, Asia-Plus  — We have achieved an agreement with the Russian Federation on allocation of 287-student quota for Tajik students for the upcoming academic year, Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov told reporters in Dushanbe yesterday.

According to him, 166 school leavers have already sent their documents to Russian universities.

“Besides, China has allocated 49 seats for Tajik students to study the Chinese language.  Turkey has allocated the quota of 16 students for Tajikistan, Egypt has allocated 22 eats, and Ukraine – 10 seats,” the minister said.  

He added that 85 other Tajiks will study at higher vocational institutions abroad due to international scholarship, Durakhshandagon.   

In the meantime, Tajik universities are expected to accept 29,400 students in the academic year 2010-2011.  29 higher educational institutions now function in Tajikistan
