DUSHANBE, August 13, 2010, Asia-Plus – Transport movement through Istiklol tunnel under Anzob, connecting northern and central parts of Tajikistan, will not be closed in the near future, as mass-medias write about, Ministry of transport and communications of RТ has informed «AP».
According to the source, now movement through this tunnel is going on in a round-the-clock mode. “The people will be in advance notified about tunnel closing if it is necessary, through the central state mass-media», – have been added in the Ministry of Transport.
The five-kilometer Istiklol tunnel provides not only all-the-year-round communication between northern and southern regions of Tajikistan, but also further it will allow going abroad. Construction of the object has begun at the end of 2003 by the Iranian Company Sobir International. For project realization Iran has allocated over $31 million, from which 10 million is grant and 21,2 million is the credit. The share of Tajikistan in the project from the moment of contract realization was $7,8 million. Though official ceremony of hend-over of this tunnel with participation of presidents of Tajikistan and Iran has taken place four years ago, civil work have been not finished yet. This year tunnel completion has been given to other Iranian company Sangob, which simultaneously is constructing Sangtuda HPP-2 in Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, according to the Press Secretary of Company Sangob, Shukrihudo Noibov, direct completion of the object is not begun yet. “Now the company is engaged in a transfer of necessary techniques and equipment for equipping of a tunnel with ventilation and lighting devices, – said he. – As far as possible, all works will be carried out without closing of movement of transport through this tunnel”.
