DUSHANBE, August 25, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Six persons have been killed in a rockfall that has hit the Dushanbe-Khorog highway in Gorno Badakhshan, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The tragedy took place at the 108th kilometer of the highway from Khorog to Dushanbe yesterday afternoon.  Hyundai with five passengers on board was moving from Khorog to Dushanbe as the rockfall occurred.  “The rockfall swept away the vehicle into the Panj River; the driver and five passengers were killed,” the source at a MoI said.  Rescue teams have no yet found their bodies.
