DUSHANBE, October 22, 2010, Asia-Plus – One insurgent was killed and three others were detained in Rasht Valley on October 21, Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, told Asia-Plus Friday afternoon.
“They were members of the illegal armed group of Alovuddin Davlatov (Ali Bedaki) and Abdullo Rahmonov (Mullo Abdullo),” said Asadulloyev, “Operations were carried out in the Sangimalik and Shulmak villages in Rasht district.”
The Interior Ministry spokesman noted that the killed militant was identified as 22-year-old resident of Nourobod district Ziyomahmad Rahimov and those detained were Haidar Boboyev from Isfara district, Jamshed Roibov from Tursunzoda and Jamshed Nosirov from Rasht.
He added that five militants that were killed in Kamarob Gorge in early October were identified as Dehqonboy Davlatov from Jirgatol district, Abdulhofiz Mannonov, Subhoniddin Mannonov and Mehrojiddin Murodov from Nourobod district and Russian national Ramil Safiulin.
We will recall that Tajik government forces have been carrying out operations targeting militants in the Rasht Valley since October 22 after 28 servicemen of the Ministry of Defense were killed and 14 others were wounded in an ambush on a military convoy in Kamarob Gorge on September 19.
According to the Ministry of Interior, 13 militants have been killed and more than 20 others have been detained to this day.
Former opposition field commander Mirzokhouja Ahmadov and more than 30 his militants reportedly laid down their weapons on October 14 and joined forces with government troops to hunt down insurgents.
