DUSHANBE, November 18, 2010, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan has raised rates of excise tax for tobacco and alcohol products, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
The source at a MoF says the measures seek to replenish the country’s budget. “The excise tax for tobacco products has been raised from US$0.05 to US$0.07 and the excise tax for alcohol drinks has bee raised from US$0.02 to US$0.03,” he added.
We will recall that Minister of Finance Safarali Najmiddinov told reporters on October 25 that they are taking measures to improve replenishment of the national budget due to domestic reserves. According to him, additional fees introduced this year are expected to replenish the national budget by 200 million somoni until the end of the year.
