DUSHANBE, February 1, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Imam-khatib of mosque in Nourobod district, Eshon Zaynulobeddin (Zaynulobeddin Mannonov), has got a jail term of five years.

The Supreme Court sentenced Zaynulobeddin Mannonov to five years in prison on January 31.  The sentenced followed his conviction on charges of inciting religious enmity and having contacts with terrorist groups that operated in Rasht district until recently, the source at the Supreme Court said.

According to him, Eshon Zaynulobeddin underwent religious studies in Pakistan and on return home, he became an active member of the banned Salafi group.  He taught young men in his house how to conduct subversive acts, the source added.

We will recall that Zaynulobeddin Mannonov was arrested in September 2010.
