DUSHANBE, February 22, 2011, Asia-Plus — The Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan has tighten control over circulation of psychotropic medications and use of them at medical facilities.
This month, officers from DCA’s office for Khatlon province have inspected local medical facilities and drugstores for compliance with requirements of circulation of psychotropic medications and opiate-containing medicines.
According to the DCA press service, while inspecting drugstore, OOO-36.6, in Qubodiyon district, the counternarcotics officers have revealed 200 tablets and 10 ampoules of diazepam and phenobarbital that are put on the national list of narcotics, psychotropic substances and precursors. The owner of this drugstore also illegally acquired a large consignment of psychotropic substances of the benzodiazepine group that are also on the national list of psychotropic substances.
Besides, resident of Qurghon Teppa has been detained on suspicion of illegally selling psychotropic substances. 200 tablets of diazepam and Phenobarbital were confiscate from him, the source added.
