DUSHANBE, February 22, 2011, Asia-Plus – Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi yesterday received Ambassador Herbert Salber, Director of OSCE’s Conflict Prevention Center, who arrived in Tajikistan on a working visit, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The two discussed issue related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Tajik minister appreciated OSCE’s support for strengthening of control of Tajik border and made special mention of OSCE’s key role in strengthening of security and stability in the Central Asian region.

The Conflict Prevention Center (CPC) supports the Chairman-in-Office and other OSCE bodies in the fields of early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation.  It plays a key role in supporting OSCE field operations.

With direct support to field operations through regional desks and strong expertise in the first dimension, the politico-military dimension, the Conflict Prevention Center is a unique model of successful interaction between thematic and geographical units.  Aside from its prominent role and expertise in the first dimension, the CPC is also involved in a number of cross-cutting activities and projects, such as education, border security and management, as well as security related issues in the OSCE Partner States and their adjacent regions.
