Two killed in avalanche in northern Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, November 8, 0211, Asia-Plus  — Two persons were killed on November 7 as an avalanche hit the Ob-Burdon Pass in the Kuhistoni Mastchoh district, Sughd province following heavy snowfalls, according to the Committee for Emergency Situation and Civil Defense (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan.

Orif Nozimov, a spokesman for a CES, says two residents of the Kuhistoni Mastchoh district, I.N., 48, and M.D., 46, were buried by the avalanche.

“Rescuers have been seeking their bodies for two days,” the spokesman said.
