DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus  — The Tajik authorities must not allow themselves to be led by the United States and spoil relationship with fraternal Iran, Hoji Akbar Turajonzoda, a prominent Tajik religious and political figure, told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon commenting on a statement made by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake, Jr. in Dushanbe on March 27.

“We share common religion and language as well as common cultural traditions with Iran,” Hoji Akbar Turajonzoda said.

He considers that policy conducted by the United States against Iran is unfair and absolutely unfounded.

We will recall that Mr. Blake told reporters in Dushanbe on March 27 that the United States calls on countries in the region to support sanctions against Iran in Washington and refuse to trade and other relations with this country, in order to put pressure on Tehran to show solidarity with the international community over concerns about Iran’s nuclear program.

“The Iranian authorities have repeatedly denied accusations of development of nuclear weapons brought against Iran by the United States and other Western countries,” said Turajonzoda, “The Iranian authorities deny these charges, saying their nuclear program is aimed at using nuclear power for peaceful purposes.  The Unites States, however, is convinced the opposite of it for some reason.”

At the same time, the United States does not condemn Israel, which has nuclear weapons and conducts hostile police against practically all of its neighbors, Turajonzoda noted.

“Why do Americans see peaceful Iran posing a threat to international community but not Israel, which occupies territories of neighboring countries?”  “I am sure that such a policy demonstrates the United States’ hate towards Islam,” Turajonzoda stated.

He considers that Central Asia’s countries that “have their own interests in relationship with the United States must be vigilant and not allow Americans to cross the “red line.”  “The appeal to sovereign nations to support sanctions against Iran and refuse to trade and other relations with it is incorrect from the political point of view,” Turajonzoda said.
