DUSHANBE, March 30, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Lyceums of two leading British university may be launched in Tajikistan.

Chairman of Tajikistan upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, remarked this yesterday at a session of the Majlisi Milli in Dushanbe.

According to him, this issue was discussed at a meeting the representatives of the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.

Ubaidulloyev asked the Minister of Education Nouriddin Saidov to take adequate measure to ensure opening lyceums of those prestigious educational facilities in the country.

The University of Oxford (informally Oxford University or Oxford) is a university located in Oxford, United Kingdom.  It is the second-oldest surviving university in the world and the oldest in the English-speaking world.  Although its exact date of foundation is unclear, there is evidence of teaching as far back as 1096.  There are thirty-eight colleges of the University of Oxford and six Permanent Private Halls.

In the 2011 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Oxford placed fourth in the world (Caltech placed first while Harvard and Stanford tied for second) and first in Europe.  In the 2011 QS World University Rankings Oxford University placed fifth in the world (while Cambridge University came first), rising from sixth in the 2010 rankings.

The University of Cambridge (informally Cambridge University or Cambridge) is a public research university located in Cambridge, United Kingdom.  It is the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world (after the University of Oxford), and the seventh-oldest globally.  The university grew out of an association of scholars in the city of Cambridge that was formed in 1209, early records suggest, by scholars leaving Oxford after a dispute with townsfolk.  Cambridge has 31 colleges.

Cambridge ranks first in the world in both the 2010 and 2011 QS World University Rankings, sixth in the world in the 2011 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and fifth in the world (and first in Europe) in the 2011 Academic Ranking of World Universities.
