DUSHANBE, Aril 6, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The first mission of experts from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the European Union Statistics (Eurostat) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) fro global assessment of the national statistical system of Tajikistan has concluded its work here recently.

According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the main objective of the mission was to assess compliance of Tajikistan’s national statistical system with international and European standards, including fundamental principles of official statistics and a code of practice for the European statistics.

During their stay in Tajikistan, the mission members held talks with senior representatives from the Agency for Statistics and relevant ministries agencies, the source said.

They also visited the agencies for statistics in the districts of Vahdat and Tursunzoda to get acquainted with the procedure of implementation of statistical work programs.

The interim report on the assessment of the national statistical system by international experts will be presented during the next mission that will take place in July this year, the source added.
