DUSHANBE, July 3, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s National Book Chamber has sent some 4,500 copies of newly published books to the northern Sughd province.

The action is part of the national librarianship development program designed for 2006-2012 and the books will be distributed to the city and district libraries in the province, a source at the National Book Chamber said.

According to him, libraries in Sughd province annually receive more than 30,000 copies of books per year under the mentioned program.

Similar “Caravans of Books” will be sent to other regions of the country in the near future as well, the source said, noting that the national budget allocates more than 200,000 somoni per year for replenishment of the country’s library stock.
