“The Project of Reconstruction of Bridge and Rehabilitation of Road in Lakhsh Jamoat, Jirgatol District” for the total amount of 112,195 USD, supported by the Government of Japan in the frame of Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects was successfully implemented.

The timeworn bridge, which was build and never rehabilitated since 1960s of the last century, depraved five villages of Algha, Kashot and Lakhsh jamoats in Jirgatol district, which situated on the right side of Qizilsou River, to efficiently intercommunicate with administrative, cultural, medical centers and the central market of the Jirgatol district.  Besides, the agricultural lands of the jamoat inhabitants are also located on the opposite side of the river, which created enormous troubles for the people, who are forced to travel back and forth for farming and transporting their harvest.  As a result of heavy rains, years of exploitation and absence of renovation the road on both sides of the bridge was also in formidable condition. Therefore, the inhabitants were forced to use the bridges of the outlying villages.

Within the framework of the project, the bridge was rehabilitated and roads on both sides of the bridge were reconstructed.  The rehabilitated bridge and the road facilitates the access of around 6,550 people of five villages to the administrative center of the Jirgatol district and ensure safe transportation of agricultural products through the new bridge and the road.  Thus, the improvement of the local transportation infrastructure leads to alleviating poverty and improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the district.

On the same day, Mr. Hiroyuki Imahashi and Mr. Nazirkhouja Mirzoyev, deputy head of the Rasht district, attended a handover ceremony at Hoit village, Hoit jamoat in Rasht district.
