Ministry of Defense: No additional forces sent to Gorno Badakhshan

DUSHANBE, July 23, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The Ministry of Defense has denied rumors that additional forces have allegedly been sent to Gorno Badakhshan following the murder of Major-General Abdullo Nazarov, chief of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office in Gorno Badakhshan on July 21.

Lieutenant-Colonel Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for a MoD, says the law enforcement authorities are engaged in investigation into the incident and “there is no necessity for sending additional forces to Gorno Badakhshan.”

Meanwhile, the SCNS press center reports that Abdullo Nazarov was buried in his native districts of Jilikul of Khatlon province on July 22.

The Main Military Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the murder of General Nazarov.
