DUSHANBE, October 23, 2012, Asia-Plus — Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov is attending the 2012 High-Level International Energy Conference of the World Energy Forum in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The forum kicked off on October 22 and is concluding tomorrow and its participants reportedly include more than 20 heads of state and government, 40 national energy ministers and more than 200 managers of international companies.
Tajik PM delivered a statement on October 22. He reportedly briefed the forum participants on Tajikistan’s water-and-energy potential and Tajik government’s plans on implementation of energy projects.
It is to be noted that it is the first World Energy Forum being held outside the United Nations headquarters.
According to forum’s official website, the World Energy Forum chose UAE to host its conference for 2012 due to the country’s geographic and strategic location and its status as a global trade hub.
Al-Arabiya News reports the conference is discussing a roadmap towards cleaner, safer, and more sustainable energy that can benefit all nations and peoples.
The event is being held at the International Convention and Exhibition Center under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
According to the UAE official state news agency, WAM, speaking at the forum, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid al-Maktoum, said, “One and half billion people out of seven billions around the world are deprived of the electric energy, which represents a massive challenge for us, and we should all face this through cooperation and coordination among all the advanced and developing countries.”
World Energy Forum is an International Not-for-Profit Membership Organization which promotes cleaner and safer energy and sustainable development worldwide. The Organization was founded in 2008 by Professor Harold Hyun-Suk Oh, who heads the Organization as President and Chairman.

In recent years, much discussion has been focused on energy access for the developing economies and also technologies for cleaner, safer and more sustainable energy.
