DUSHANBE, October 24, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan and Finland have signed a double taxation avoidance agreement.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon who is currently in Finland on an official visit today morning held talks with his Finnish counterpart Sauli Vainamo Niinisto in Helsinki.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the sides discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Finland in various fields.

Their talks were followed by negotiations with participation of the government delegations of the two countries.

The sides noted that Tajikistan’s natural and manpower resources and Finland’s investments and latest technologies could lay foundation for expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.

They reportedly outlined sectors like energy, mining, light and food industries, agriculture and tourism, as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

The sides also discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Finland within regional and international organizations.

The negotiations resulted in singing of a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Finland on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

At a joint press conference with his Finnish counterpart, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon noted that Tajikistan was interested in expansion of many-sided cooperation with Finland.

Both presidents highly appraised the results of the negotiations and perspectives of Tajikistan-Finland bilateral cooperation, the Tajik president’s website said.
