DUSHANBE, October 24, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Two officers from Gorno Badakhshan have reportedly been fired for having ties to criminal groupings in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

The Interior Ministry’s website reports Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimov has sacked two officers from the Murgab police department – Captain Asalbek Boronboyev and Lieutenant-Colonel Mahkam Lashkarov.

Besides, seven officers from the Khorog police department have been sacked and five others have been reprimanded.

Meanwhile, the Kyrgyz news agency 24.kg, referring to the Kyrgyz counternarcotics agency, reported that two Tajik police officers had been arrested at the Bor-Dobo checkpoint in the Alay district on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.  Nine packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing six kilograms were reportedly found hidden in their Mitsubishi-Pajero.
