DUSHANBE, November 1, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Founded by the Dushanbe mayor’s office, TV Channel Poytakht (Capital City) has made shift to 24-hour broadcasting.

“TV Channel Poytakht may be picked up by some 2 million residents and guests of the Tajik capital and nearby districts,” said Abduqahhor.  “In connection with the shift to 24-hour broadcasting, we intend to apply to the mayor for permission to double our staff.  50 journalists and technical employees now work for Poytakht.”

“Within the next ten days, Poytakht will fully shift to the digital broadcasting and beginning on January 1, 2013, we will broadcast our programs through the satellite system,” he added.

Poytakht is the third Tajik TV channel to be on the air around the clock.  We will recall that the national TC channel, Shabakai Avval (Channel One), and the news channel, Jahonnamo, are broadcast 24 hours per day.

Four national TV channels are now in operation in Tajikistan: Shabakai Avval; Safina; Jahonnamo; and Bahoriston (children’s TV channel).  There are also regional and private TV stations in the country, but many of them depend on government transmission equipment.
