DUSHANBE, November 13, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The International Organization for Migration (IOM)’s Office in Moscow is giving presentation of Tajik-Russian pocket phrasebook for labor migrants and their families arriving in Russia today afternoon.

Headings of the phrasebook are sorted in a way allowing easy access to answers to many questions within a wide spectrum of issues, such as “Employment and Work in Russia,” “Acquaintance and Communication,” “Shops and Services,” “Dwelling, Education and Leisure,” etc.

The phrasebook has reportedly been developed and published in cooperation with specialists from the Center for Interethnic Education, Etnospfera, within the framework of Central Asia Regional Migration Program (CARMP).

CARMP concerns labor migration, which has played a key part in reducing poverty levels in Tajikistan, since most communities in rural areas are affected by migration, mainly to the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan. Due to the complex nature of the labor migration this program takes on comprehensive and holistic measures to promote policies and institutional procedures to respect, protect and fulfill labor migrants’ rights throughout the migration cycle.  Overall objective of the program is to contribute to poverty reduction in Central Asia through the improved livelihoods of migrant men and women.  The specific program purpose is to protect the rights and enhance the social and economic opportunities of migrant men, women and their families.
