reports a Tajik national, Abdul Bekmamadov, actor of Moscow’s Theater.doc, was beaten up by football fans on November 3.

He and his brother were returning home when they were accosted by a mixed group of people who had clearly been drinking.

Abdul said that “We had nowhere to run. Someone hit me in the head with their fist, the attacker wore brass knuckles. I only remember the first punch, there was blood, then they began to beat me and I lost consciousness.”

Abdul woke up in the hospital to see his brother Alim, ten years his junior, lying next to him.  Alim’s nose had been broken and four teeth knocked out.  After three days at the hospital (after that you have to pay for care), Abdul and his brother went home,

Meanwhile, Mikhail Ugarov, creative director of Theater.doc, told

“It was a large crowd that was meeting people at the subway station “Perovo” and beating up Asians and Caucasians with baseball bats.  Abdul came to himself only in the hospital because he received several blows to the head.”

According to

, Abdul Bekmamadov is in a wonderful and very gentle documentary play “Akyn-opera” (idea and production by Vsevolod Lisovsky) at Theater.doc.  Having left the hospital with six stitches on his head, Abdul was already on stage on November 11. “It’s ok. I’ve lived in Moscow for twelve years and this has never happened before. So I became relaxed. I’ll be more careful now,” he told the audience.
