DUSHANBE, January 4, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajik Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Olim Rahimov met with Kyrgyz Minister of Education and Science Kanat Sadykov in Bishkek on December 28, 2012, the Tajik Embassy in Bishkek reports.

In the course of the talks, Tajik diplomat reportedly informed Kyrgyz minister of the main events in bilateral political, socioeconomic and cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The sides pointed to the necessity of the further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education and science.

Ambassador Rahimov expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz authorities for an opportunity given for Tajik citizens, including ethnic Kyrgyzs, to study at higher educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan.

The two also touched upon issues related to functioning of native-language schools and classes for ethnic Tajiks in Kyrgyzstan and ethnic Kyrgyzs in Tajikistan and providing these schools with textbooks.

Rahimov asked Sadykov to draw attention of heads and teaching staffs of high schools and universities in Kyrgyzstan to the necessity of displaying tolerance and taking measures against possible provocations from undesirable person, the source said.
