DUSHANBE, January 15, 2013, Asia-Plus  — In 2012, Tajikistan produced a total of some 9.8 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 2 billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Processing industry reportedly accounted for 69.6 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced last year, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 17.7 percent and mining industry accounted for 12.7 percent.

Of the 89 basic types of industrial products the output of 55 items (61.8 percent) increased, and the output of 28 items (31.5 percent) decreased last year.  Six basic types of industrial products (6.7 percent) were not manufactured.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) produced more than 3.4 billion somoni worth of goods in 2012, which is 21.3 percent more than in 2011.

Cotton-processing enterprises produced more than 1.2 billion somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 32.7 percent more than in 2011.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI produced some 1.3 billion somoni worth of goods last year, which is 11.9 percent more than in 2011.
