Dushanbe. 11 February. “Asia-Plus” – On Monday the police have interrupted celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday organized by the Islamic Rennaisance party of Tajikistan in Kulob.
In his interview to AP deputy leader of IRPT Muhammad Hayet said that the police have broke the event saying that it was not agreed and conformed with local authorities.
“Head of IRPT’s Office in Kulob Abdusamad Gairat was taken to the local police station and was released later when he answered all the questions,” Mr.Gairat told AP.
According to Mr. Hayet, police officers also say that under the law of Tajikistan “On regulation of ceremonies and traditions”, celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday is forbidden in the country.
“IRPT carries out similar events dedicated to celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday throughout the country and nobody stops them except local authorities of Kulob. Our office in Kulob is going to lodge a complaint to the city prosecutor’s office,” Mr.Hayet stressed.
