DUSHANBE, February 17, 2013, Asia-Plus — In January 2013, Tajikistan exported some 1.486 million U.S. dollars worth of electrical power, which was 2.3 times more than the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
In January 2012, Tajikistan’s energy exports reportedly totaled 643,000 U.S. dollars.
Last month, Tajikistan, in particular, exported little more than 53 million kWh of electrical power to neighboring Afghanistan at the rate of 3.57 cents per one kWh.
Barqi Tojik (Tajik electricity supplier) reports that total electricity generation in January was 1,527 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), or an average of 49.3 million kWh per day. Electricity production in January increased by 2.1% (48.3 million kWh) compared to December 2012.
Electricity production in January 2013 was 29 million kWh less than in January 2012.
Total electricity consumption in January was 1,484 million kWh, 33% more than in December 2012. In January, 2013 electricity consumption was 69 million kWh less than in January 2012 (1,553 million kWh).
In late January 2013, the water level in the Norak hydroelectric power plant (HPP) reservoir was 884.77 meters above sea level, 10.6 meters lower when compared to December, 2012 and 27.77 m above the “dead level” (857 m).
At the end of January 2013, the water inflow into the Norak HPP reservoir was 159 cubic peters per second, 15.1 m3/sec above the 2004-2012 average of 143.9 m3/sec.
