DUSHANBE, February 19, 2013, Asia-Plus – A special manual for imam-khatibs has not yet been published in Tajikistan.

The head of the Committee on Religious Affairs (CRA) under the Government of Tajikistan, Abdurahim Kholiqov, announced in early 2010 that the manual would be published in the near future.  However, it has not yet been published.

We will recall that the manual that will be called “52 Friday Sermons” will be oriented at imam-khatibs, heads of Friday mosques.

The manual is expected to contain 52 themes for Friday sermons, one for each week of the year.  All the themes were reportedly determined by the special commission, which was composed of theologians, relevant scientists and officials.  The CRA expects imam-khatibs will not “digress” from the proposed themes.

The head of the CRA department for religious organizations, Solehjon Zavqiyev, has told Asia-Plus that the Fatwa Department within the Islamic Center is currently engaged in compiling the manual.  “And this department will distribute the manuals to imam-khatibs of Friday mosques,” Zavqiyev noted.
