DUSHANBE, February 25, 2013, Asia-Plus  — The Dushanbe-based Public Foundation, Dialogue of Civilizations, has hosted a meeting to discuss a role of Russia in achievement of inter-Tajik peace and accord.

The meeting that took place on February 22 brought together experts, researchers, public figures, senior representatives of political parties, known Tajik journalists and Russian diplomatic mission.

Speaking at the meeting, Professor Abdunabi Sattorzoda pointed to the necessity of establishing the truth of those days.

According to him, Tajikistan will not be able to do without Russia still for a long time.  “We must conduct cautious and sensible policy toward Russia,” noted Sattorzoda.  “We must study it [Russia] well.”

He further added that the time has come to abandon relations with Russia that have exited for many years.   “The days when we had to coordinate our actions with Moscow by all means are over,” a senior expert from Tajik think tank said.  “Russia is considered Tajikistan’s strategic partner, but actually our relationships do not meet requirements of the strategic partnership.”
