DUSHANBE, September 28, 2013, Asia-Plus – The Vatandor (Patriot) political movement headed by Dodojon Atovulloyev, the Group 24 opposition movement that was reportedly set up by Umarali Quvvatov, and Mirzohusein Nazriyev, the head of the unregistered wing of the Socialist Party of Tajikistan (SPT) have announced their support for presidential candidate, Ms. Oynihol Bobonazarova.

Abduqayum Qayumzod, a spokesman for Bobonazarova’s campaign staff, says they announced their support for Ms. Bobonazarova on September 28.

“Vatandor, Group 24 and Nazriyev also called on their supporters to unite round Bobonazarova and support her candidature in the upcoming presidential election,” Qayumzod said.

Meanwhile, an article “Surprise Candidate for Tajik Opposition” posted on the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR)’s website on September 19 notes that an electoral coalition, The Union of Reformist Forces, which was set up in July, includes the Islamic Revival Party, the Social-Democratic Party as well as the recently-founded New Tajikistan party, Group-24, National Movement of Tajikistan, and the Vatandor movement.
