DUSHANBE, September 30, Asia-Plus – Ms. Oynihol Bobonazarova’s pre-election campaign staff has criticized the authorities for what it called “unprecedented use of administrative resource.”
A statement, released by Bobonazarova’s campaign staff on September 30, in particular, notes that “the pre-election situation in the country has become tense because of violation of electoral rights of citizens.”
The opposition reiterates that constitutional rights of more than 1.5 million Tajik citizens staying abroad, who constitute more than 35 percent of the voters and who have not been allowed to participate in the signature collection process, have been grossly violated.
“Besides, the number of polling stations established outside the country, especially in the Russian Federation (only 24 polling stations), is not enough to ensure access of Tajik nationals staying abroad to voting process,” the statement says.
Bobonazarova’s campaign staff also expressed dissatisfaction with the authorities’ attitude toward the Islamic Revival Party (IRP), which nominated Ms. Bobonazarova to run in the 2013 presidential election scheduled for November 6.
