Military equipment importers exempted from paying taxes and customs duties

DUSHANBE, October 17, 2013, Asia-Plus /– Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) has endorsed amendments proposed to the country’s customs and tax codes.

A regular sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on October 17.

Presenting the amendments, Deputy Finance Minister, Ruhullo Hakimov, noted that they provided for the exemption of duties and taxes on the import of farm machinery.

He stressed that both foreign and domestic importers of farm machinery are exempted from paying taxes and customs duties.

“This measure will promote creation of new jobs and enhancement of the agrarian sector of the country,” the deputy minister noted.

Under these amendments, military equipment importers are also exempted from paying taxes and customs duties.
