DUSHANBE, October 18, 2013, Asia-Plus — Afghan drug dealer Ghulam Rabbani waladi Bekmuhammad Nazar, 32, has been killed in a special operation carried out by officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office for Khatlon in the Farkhor province, the SCNS press center reported today.

He was reportedly killed while resisting his detention.  His partner in crime, Amriddin waladi Khudayar, 30, was wounded and managed to return to the contiguous territory, the source said.

An assault rifle Kalashnikov, five magazines with 137 bullets, two mobile phones and 12.5 kilograms of cannabis were found at the scene of skirmish.

“It was Ghulam Rabbani waladi Bekmuhammad Nazar and his partners in crime who went into skirmish with Tajik border guards at the Tajik-Afghan border in the Farkhor district in January this year.  One Tajik border guard, Fakhriddin Qozizoda, 19, was killed in that skirmish,” the source added.

Investigation has reportedly established that Ghulam Rabbani waladi Bekmuhammad Nazar had contacts with the 35-year-old resident of the Tajik city of Kulob, Habibullo Mahmoudov, who was recently arrested.

Afghan law enforcement authorities have suspected Ghulam Rabbani waladi Bekmuhammad Nazar of masterminding assassination of a number of known persons in Afghanistan, the SCNS press center said.
