Investments in Tajikistan’s economy reportedly rise 16.5

DUSHANBE, November 21, 2013, Asia-Plus — Investments in Tajikistan’s economy rose 16.5 percent in a year to October 31, 2013, reaching 3.6144 billion somoni (equivalent to 759.1 million USD), according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).

44. 4 percent of investments have reportedly been attracted in the public sector, 27.1 percent of investments have been attracted in the private sector, and 8.6 percent of investments have been used for launching and developing joint ventures, an official source at a MoEDT said.

According to him, 16.7 percent of investments have been used for enhancement of the country’s energy sector.

603.6 million somoni (equivalent to 126.8 million USD), including 481.4 million somoni (equivalent 101.1 million USD) provided by domestic private companies and foreign loans (122.2 million somoni), have been invested in construction of energy facilities.

To-date, they have reportedly drawn 62.2 percent of funds invested in construction of the energy facilities in Tajikistan.
