DUSHANBE, November 22, 2013, Asia-Plus — On Thursday November 21, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi met in Bursa, Turkey with Bursa Mayor Munir Karaoglu, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey.

Zarifi and Karaoglu, in particular, exchanged views on establishment of cooperation in sectors like hydropower, agriculture, mining, textiles, and tourism.

During the meeting, Tajik foreign minister handed over an exequatur to Mr. Ali Fuat Er, Honorary Consul of Tajikistan in Bursa, the Tajik MFA information department said.

While in Bursa, Zarifi also met with local entrepreneurs.  Tajik minister informed them about the economic and social situation and investment climate in Tajikistan.  He especially invited Turkish investments in hydropower.

The sides reportedly agreed that a delegation of Turkish entrepreneurs, led by Bursa mayor, would visit Tajikistan in the near future.

Bursa is a city in Turkey, located in northwestern Anatolia, within the Marmara Region. It is the fourth most populous city in Turkey and one of the most industrialized metropolitan centers in the country. The city is also the administrative center of Bursa Province.

Bursa is the center of the Turkish automotive industry.  Factories of motor vehicle producers like Fiat, Renault and Karsan, as well as automotive parts producers like Bosch, Mako, Valeo, Johnson Controls and Delphi have been active in the city for decades.  The textile and food industries are equally strong, with Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola and other beverage brands, as well as fresh and canned food industries being present in the city”s organized industrial zones.
